There has been a lot going on recently. We are still waiting to see if his HRT is going to be approved, but he feels hopeful and most days he is in very high spirits. Some of this has already been published on Facebook but I will recap here.
I have sent Ky nearly every picture we got from Atlanta Pride, (I can only send a couple at a time via email.) He is thrilled with all of them, so thank you to everyone who showed support!
Our banner was particularly a success because I painted the top line “FREE KY”, in all caps….which led to many folks stopping by to ask for free lube. I wasn’t at all deterred by this. It brought people to the tent and I was able to educate some folks. Plus Ky thought it was hysterical, and its been a really long time since I’ve seen him laugh that hard.
Also, the prison communication system (Jpay) now allows inmates to take pictures and send them via email. Ky has been busy having fun with some selfie action lately.
Things on the home front are gearing up. We are making new friends and joining together with others who have suffered as victims of transphobic violence as well as victims of an inhumane and corrupt legal system. We are hopeful and trying to prepare for Ky to return home in a year. October 28th marks the 4 year Anniversary of Ky’s attack. He will have been locked up 1,460 days…. 1,460 days for defending himself. 1,460 days without friends, family and loved ones. My personal feelings about all that is going on are to overwhelming to really put into words. I miss his smile, his laugh, his dancing, and his ability to light up the faces of everyone around him. All I can say is, beyond our relationship and all that has happened, I just miss my friend.
We wish all of you hope an love,
Pinky and Ky
