We are so very blessed to have the support of the folks at The Advocate. They began working on this article when I informed them of Ky being pepper sprayed and taken back to lockdown. I’ve always tried to give them updates as soon as I got them, but the call that sparked my last post was just last night, and I couldn’t get the info to them before the article was published this morning.
Regardless, it is yet another amazing article from The Advocate, sharing the fear and compassion that Ky’s mother has for her son. She’s been fighting this prison for far longer than I have.
While my conversation with Ky last confirmed that he took pills that caused his overdose, I still feel that the prison is responsible. They have denied him his rights for gender therapy, abused him, took his dignity, isolated him, and refused his repeated requests for help. Then after the incident that nearly cost him his life, the facility repeatedly denied information to his family. If this kind of action continues in that prison, I believe that Ms. Peterson is correct; Ky’s life is still very much in danger.
